In the past, getting dental restorations often required more time and offered limited precision. Understanding these challenges, Dr. Tooth has been at the forefront of adopting advanced CAD/CAM technology., bringing a new level of innovation to aesthetic dental restorations.
So, What Is CAD/CAM?
CAD (Computer Aided Design) và CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) is a digital technology that enables the precise design and fabrication of ceramic dental restorations. Using the German-developed Sirona system, this technology allows dentists to create highly accurate, natural-looking ceramic restorations in just a single appointment.
At Dr. Tooth, CAD/CAM technology is widely used for Inlays, Onlays, Overlays, aesthetic dental crowns, and implant-supported crowns. This advanced technology offers a range of outstanding benefits:
1. Same-Day Restoration in a Single Appointment: Thanks to a fully digital workflow, everything from scanning and design to fabrication can be completed quickly right at the clinic. Your ceramic restoration can be completed on the same day, without the need for a long waiting period.
2. Exceptional Precision: The ceramic restoration is precisely fabricated to achieve an excellent fit with the natural tooth, helping prevent bacteria and food debris from accumulating while supporting oral health and extending the lifespan of the restoration.
3. Personalized Design: CAD/CAM software can precisely calculate tooth shape and design crowns that are tailored to each patient’s facial features and dental arch, creating a natural-looking result that closely resembles real teeth.
4. A Gentle and Comfortable Experience: The minimally invasive procedure, combined with highly precise ceramic restorations, allows for quick placement with minimal pain or discomfort.
The entire restoration process is completed in-house at the clinic through four main steps:
Step 1: Digital Dental Scanning: The dentist uses the CEREC Omnicam intraoral scanner, featuring a compact color camera, to capture highly accurate 3D digital impressions. This replaces traditional tray-based impression methods, providing a more comfortable experience for patients.
Step 2: Computer-Aided Design: The CEREC software provides standardized restoration templates, allowing the dentist to quickly and accurately design a virtual crown on the computer.
Step 3: Ceramic Fabrication: The CEREC milling unit, combined with specialized software, fabricates the ceramic restoration from a solid ceramic block, producing a highly aesthetic result with precise and well-defined margins.
Step 4: Firing and Finalization: After milling, the restoration is fired in an EP3010 furnace. The advanced technology reduces the firing time to just 9 minutes, after which the technician polishes the restoration to achieve the most natural-looking color and appearance.
